Elly Richaerts' work builds on the legacy of the Stijl movement, which originated in the 1920s. She finds her inspiration in the geometric and harmonious principles of this movement.
While she uses the clean lines and primary colors of De Stijl as a foundation, she expands her palette with shades and tones of these primary colors. This creates more possibilities for creating constructions and compositions.
Her work is a personal quest for constructivist possibilities, connecting the past and present, yet remains timeless. The lines that seemingly intertwine chaotically, break away, and reconnect or converge form the core of a creative process. She creates a balance between the clean geometry of De Stijl and a unique, more organic visual language.
This is her story of elegance, captured in her personal artistic universe, which she calls KUBUTOPIA.
